Introduction

Hello and Good Day Everybody !
I am a new teacher in the school named Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Bendahara. This school is situated in Jasin, Melaka.
I am accepted to be one of the Guru Sandaran Terlatih (GST) here. There are 10 of us, my batch joined the schools in 27th June 2011.
In this blog, I share with you my experience and great things that are happening to me in the school.
There are also notes and things for good English class usages, so feel free to browse them whenever there are gaps between classes.
My mentor here is Hajjah Zaorah and she has been guiding me to be a better English teacher.

Cikgu ke ?

Itu soalan pertama kena jawab kalau jumpa orang.
kenapa senang sangat nak teka karier aku ?
tanya la doktor ke pilot ke engineer ke business ke.
maybe muka aku cutting cikgu sangat.
tapi aku jarang pulak tanya orang yang aku baru jumpa.
cuba anda lihat muka saya,muka cikgu sangat ke ? diaorang kata cikgu jalan berhati-hati.
slow aja
ada kebenarannya sebab banyak tangga kat sekolah,
takut terjatuh satu anak tangga masa bawak buku pelajar'
malu taww.
aku memang elakkan berjalan melawan arus,
pelajar ramai-ramai jalan dari hadapan.
kalau diaorang terlanggar buku rekod yang kita kendong tu
nak marah diaorang dah lepas kedepan.

Strategi mengajar kelas Peralihan.

 

Pertama kali aku mengajar kelas peralihan ialah semasa tahun 2011, waktu itu aku baru tahu ada kelas bukan aliran perdana seperti kelas peralihan dan pendidikan khas. Dulu aku ajar sekolah sains mana aku tahu semua nih. Masa itu aku menggantikan orang, lagilah students tak nak ikut cakap aku.

 

Tahun lepas 2012 aku ajar juga kelas remove nih. Pengalaman manis aku ialah seorang pelajar paling nakal dan tak ikut cakap aku perbaiki attitudenya dan dapat 90 % ver dalam exam pertengahan tahun. In fact, dia daoat highest.

 

Masa ku ajar kelas tu, paling pening , sampai pengetua masuk kelas aku dua kali nak urusksn sendiri pelajar, dia samakan ss remove aku macam binatang kat zoo, pekh, menusuk hati betul. Bising dan padat.

Tahap kelas remove aku ni macam melukut di tepi gantang.

Memang memula aku tak perasan, tapi bila aku lihat layanan orang terhadap kelas peralihan ni, baru aku boleh nampak, mereka diketepikan.

1.      Hak mereka untuk ke perpustakaan dinafikan- tidak digalakkan bawa pelajar ke library.

2.      Mereka tidak dipilih untuk mana-mana pertandingan atau persembahan sekolah.

3.      Dalam jadual waktu exam pun jadual kelas remove sering ‘ ehh terlupa lahh’’

4.      Ucapan perhimpunan pun tak address tak ada, sering saja...” dari tingkatan 1 hingga tingkatan 6”..

5.      Mereka sering dicap ponteng sekolah jam 1.20 pm tak tau ke mereka mmg balik jam 1.20 pm ?

6.      Program NILAM tak masukkan mereka, sakit hati betul, aku dah penat-penat buat NILAM, dikatakan, pelajar remove tak termasuk dalam program NILAMlah. MMg tak ada peluang nak jadi rakan pembaca langsung.

 

Memang nakal tu tahap berani matilah, ss aku bergaduh mmg biasa, mmg muka bilik disiplinlah.

So, aku tekad ajar dan bawa pelajar ini kepada hak, aku pejuang hak pelajar peralihan , I’m a nature loverrr.

 

Nak ajar memang susah.

Pertama kali aku sampai dalam kelas tu ialah tutup semua pintu, (dulu kelas aku ada 4 pintu)

Then aku lihat 1 daun pintu dah tercabut, depa terajang, aku halang pakai desk.

Mereka akan faham perasaan kita, tapi tak  faham apa yang kita cakapkan.

Kalau kita jerit,

Sit down or I will cane you right away

Mereka faham sit down aja.

Mereka akan diam

Kalau kita jerit, “

Sit down, I’m going to the canteen after this ! “

Mereka akan diam juga.

 

Tahun lepas aku tak akan gariskan apa yang aku tulis, aku akan bulatkan saja.

Kalau kita garis, mereka akan garis juga.

Tapi tak ada pembaris, then mereka akan rentap pembaris siapa-siapa saja.

Then bergaduhlah.

 

Jangan beri ejaan yang susah-susah, nanti mereka akan salah, dan akan guna liquid paper,

Mereka akan rentap juga.

 

Aku akan tulis sama macam apa yang aku nak mereka tulis dalam buku mereka.

Jangan beri mereka dekat dengan meja guru, nanti mereka akan ambil barang kita (curi).

Then, kita tercari-cari barang, like a fool.

 

Kalau pintu terbuka aja, masa kita tulis kat white board tu, mereka akan lari keluar, so irritating.

How to teach comparative adjectives

Here's a creative way to teach stronger and faster , and to tame to naughtiest boy in the class.

write this on the board:

____ is stronger than _________



then you ask them to suggest names

Rahman

Salleh


What name do you want me to put, Rahman  here or Salleh first ?

(ss shout either one , it doesn't matter )


usually I'm going to take the naughtiest but the weakest, and the good student but the strongest, try to make the second boy win, hehe.


The most important is make everybody see this ..

Hold an arm wrestling competition for them.

They are going to cheer, it's going to disturb other classes, so what. The good boy must win- very important.

Then, you write the names in the sentences.

The ss get to learn
-adjectives
-the naughty boy is just empty can, very weak !


the naughty boy learns:
-adjectives
-I am defeated in front of everybody
-Everybody is not afraid of me anymore because I am not as strong !

You win !




One creative way to teach preposition

Stand up !
Sit down !

kadang-kadang kita tak  tahan dengan pelajar bising, lalu kita gunakan bahasa ala-ala askar nie kan
Then kita akan suruh pelajar tukar tempat, so mereka tak dapat bersembang dengan kawan.

Stand up and sit beside Ali !

-for example.

You! Take your book and sit beside Chua !
-another way.

See it ?

You! Take your book and sit beside Chua !


Tai Zen !
Stand up and sit behind Ming !

(Dia tak faham, tapi pergi sebelah Ming, so kita ulang)

Stand up and sit behind Ming !

Dia tak faham, tapi pergi sebelah Ming.

No, behind Ming !



James, pack your  things and sit in front of Janet.

James looks puzzled, (cause there are students sitting on Janet's both sides. He stands.

I said,

James, pack your things and sit in front of Janet.

He stands.

Sit in front of Janet !

He begins to figure out when I point at the empty seat in front of Janet.


It works for between as well.

James, pack your things and sit between Janet and Wani !

James looks puzzled, (cause there are students sitting beside Janet . He stands.

(Repeat same process)

For the noisiest :

James, pack your things and sit under ...

James looks puzzled

James, pack your things and sit under ...

.. under the desk !

James looks irritated, but the point is he follows and able to put things based on our instructions with preposition.
