Introduction

Hello and Good Day Everybody !
I am a new teacher in the school named Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Bendahara. This school is situated in Jasin, Melaka.
I am accepted to be one of the Guru Sandaran Terlatih (GST) here. There are 10 of us, my batch joined the schools in 27th June 2011.
In this blog, I share with you my experience and great things that are happening to me in the school.
There are also notes and things for good English class usages, so feel free to browse them whenever there are gaps between classes.
My mentor here is Hajjah Zaorah and she has been guiding me to be a better English teacher.

Theme/Learning Area: Directed Writing; Writing an Informal Letter.
Learning Outcomes: 2.a (vii)
a)  Writing descriptions, instructions, recounts, explanations, messages, letters, speeches, reports and articles.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students are able to:
1.    Write an informal letter with the correct format.
2.    Write one elaborations for all 6 points each.

Activities
1.    Students are asked on their experience in writing an informal letter.
2.    Students are given a sample of a directed writing question and a sample script.
3.    Teacher explains the format
4.    Students are given a task that is to write an informal letter to a friend telling their experience surviving a flood.
5.    They attempt to write the address, date, salutation, the body and the signature.
6.    Teacher corrects any mistakes

2.    They are shown of excerpts, and they work in groups to answer and justify the answers.
3.    Teacher corrects the mistakes and justifies.
4.    Teacher tells what opinions that can be given 2 marks
5.    Students express their opinions for the 2 mark question.

1.    Write correct sentences using the correct grammatical items.
Activities:
1.    Students ask questions pertaining the usage of grammar in composing sentences or in answering cloze test.
2.    They are shown the examples of the correct grammar usages using QWERTYUIOP as the source of examples.
3.    Teacher explains the usage of verbs in present tense, past tense and continuous tenses.
4.    They write 5 sentences using the correct sentence structure
5.    Teacher checks and correct mistakes if there are any
