Introduction

Hello and Good Day Everybody !
I am a new teacher in the school named Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Bendahara. This school is situated in Jasin, Melaka.
I am accepted to be one of the Guru Sandaran Terlatih (GST) here. There are 10 of us, my batch joined the schools in 27th June 2011.
In this blog, I share with you my experience and great things that are happening to me in the school.
There are also notes and things for good English class usages, so feel free to browse them whenever there are gaps between classes.
My mentor here is Hajjah Zaorah and she has been guiding me to be a better English teacher.

Learning Outcomes         : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Obtain information for different purposes by listening to spoken texts such as talks.
2.     Process information by making short notes and mapping out ideas
Learning Objectives       : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Fill in the blanks for verbs in past tense and past perfect tense correctly.
2.     Construct 5 sentences using the tenses taught correctly.
Activities  :
1.     Teacher explains the rules of perfect tense
2.     They are shown the correct usage of past tense and past perfect tense
3.     Teacher explains the method and ss make 2 sentences using the correct past tense and  perfect tense.
4.     Students attempt to 3 answer the given questions and check the answers on the whiteboard.
5.     Students are given a verb and they were expected to use the verb in simple past and past perfect tense to construct 5 correct sentences.
6.     The lesson is concluded.

Theme/Learning Area     : Phrasal verbs
Learning Outcomes         : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Obtain information for different purposes by listening to spoken texts such as talks.
2.     Process information by making short notes and mapping out ideas
Learning Objectives       : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Write 5 sentences correctly using phrasal verbs and answer correctly at least 10 out of 16 questions in Test 1.
Activities  :
1.     Students are reminded of their previous lesson, (past perfect tense).
2.     Teacher explains the importance of using phrasal verbs in continuous writing.
3.     Teacher gives 5 phrasal verbs from test 2 (put on, turn up, see through, come across and take off)in box A  and their meanings in box B, and lets students match the meanings. Teacher lets students answer and explains the meanings and usages.
4.     In groups, students are given 16 new questions related to phrasal verbs and they attempt the questions. The group that is the fastest and gets the highest mark wins. Teacher explains the meanings in context. Then, all students are given 5 phrasal verbs, and they make 5 sentences.
5.     Teacher randomly selects students to write the sentences on the white board. Teacher checks the answers and explains.
6.     The lesson is concluded by students reminded of the phrasal verbs that they could use in writing. As a preparation for next class, they are to write an imaginary letter from Tiro to The Drover’s Wife, (or vice versa) using past perfect tense and phrasal verbs.

Theme/Learning Area     : Short Story The Sound Machine
Learning Outcomes         : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Express themselves creatively and imaginatively by dramatizing texts and role-playing characters.
Learning Objectives       : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.Do a group presentation of a mock invention.
Activities  :
1.     Ss are reminded on the themes in the short Story The Sound Machine.
2.     Ss are gathered in groups, they were to come up with an invention that can improve one’s handwriting instantly and include a few EST expressions.
3.     Each group presents their invention in simple English.
4.     The best group wins and the activity is concluded.

Theme/Learning Area     : Past perfect tense and Phrasal verbs
Learning Outcomes         : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Present information to different audiences by using appropriate format, conventions and grammar when presenting information.
2.     Express themselves creatively by retelling a story from a different point of view, and presenting it in another genre.(aesthetics)
3.     Listen to, read, view and respond to literary works by recognizing elements in a story such as characters and setting.
Learning Objectives       : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Read aloud an imaginary letter from Tiro to The Drover’s Wife, using correctly the past perfect tense and phrasal verbs.
Activities  :
1.     Students are reminded of their previous lesson. Teacher explains the importance of using phrasal verbs in continuous writing.
2.     In groups, they are to choose 2 letters and read out the letters to the class. (The letters are given to teacher prior to the lesson)
3.     Their pronunciation and grammar usages are corrected if there are any mistakes. The letters must be based on the correct plot, and students use their imagination in telling the hardships faced at that moment. Other students are allowed to comment on the content.
4.     The lesson is concluded by students reminded on grammar and appreciating creativity in literary works.

2.      Present information to different audiences by composing, revising and editing drafts and checking accuracy of spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Learning Objectives       : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:-
1.     Correct and rewrite all 14 sentences
2.     Write down their own sentences using correct tenses
Activities  :
1.     The class is opened with teacher mentioning the importance of correct tenses usages.
2.     Students are divided into 5 groups and they attempt to answer question 23.
3.     The fastest group wins and given a prize.
4.     The answers are explained.
5.     Students are given time to ask questions
6.     Individually, each student makes corrections (if there are any) by reusing similar structure of the sentence.
7.     The lesson is concluded.

1.     list down at least 5 lessons learnt in the poem, based on ss understanding
2.     write down 3 benefits ss will obtain if they practice the lessons in the poem.
3.     give an account of their lives on how to gain success.
Activities  :
1.     Teacher recaps the previous lesson.
2.     Students are asked on what do they think of the poem or any other poem they have read or studied.
3.     Then, they are asked on how the poem could benefit them.
4.     Students are given time to write down the answers for the questions.
